About Us

This Collective

We are a group of Sinixt and settler activists, collaborating to support Sinixt resurgence. Our mission is to: Promote positive relationships between Sinixt and settler communities, based on Sinixt autonomy in their tmxʷulaʔxʷ (homeland); Create multi-disciplinary projects that facilitate Sinixt resurgence; Encourage the development of informed and culturally aware youth; Support environmental initiatives relevant to the Autonomous Sinixt; and deliver unrestricted funds to the Autonomous Sinixt Smum iem.

our name

"Blood of Life"

This refers to stories as our ancestral bloodlines; What we share and pass down generationally are the memories that flow through our veins and carry culture. All of the non-Sinixt Blood of Life Collective members feel profoundly honoured and blessed to be able to participate in this on-going work. To Marilyn James and Taress Alexis, we offer our deepest gratitude. May this work help the Sinixt People and their Culture resurge from the ongoing devastation of colonialism and bureaucratic extinction. Follow us on social to learn more.

Cultural anthropologist Lori Barkley wrote an article about being in right relations with Autonomous Sinixt:

'Working Towards Being in Right Relationship with Autonomous Sinixt: Settler Fragility, Allyship, and Working with Indigenous Peoples'
